Several students from the University of Texas at Austin visited Manor Middle School this week to meet and mentor male students of color.
Project MALES, an organization composed of UT students, has partnered with Manor ISD to provide positive male role models for middle school students.12 7th grade Manor Middle School students were matched with 11 UT undergraduate students. Project MALES mentors aim to create dialogue around issues impacting young men of color in our communities. Mentors will meet with their mentees every Tuesday from 12:05-12:35 and will also have lunch with them.
Project MALE mentors work on mentoring development as well as developing a range of topics and activities focusing on college and career pathways after high school for our mentees.
